I shot the pink bunny

I went and took my longbow out for its first play today. (A Tur. bow, made by Cliff Turpin from Brisbane, Queensland.) I have had it for some months, but it is only recently I was brave enough to adjust it by shifting the arrow rest to the other side. (I forgot to mention when ordering it that I am left-handed.)

So I turned up late to Monthly Bash (around 3ish) and some archers under [info]master_will were shooting at things on sticks. Including a pink bunny and a blue bunny. Using some of the spare Stormhold blunts, I joined in shooting at the pink bunny (the closer target). My grouping was good, but I kept "just missing". Then I managed to shoot its carrot out and then it off its pole. I was less successful shooting at the blue bunny further back.

Practice makes perfect. More practice is required.

[info]master_will also checked the poundage on my longbow--it is, indeed, SCA legal.

A gentleman named Sven was there with his Hun bow. He let me use it: I hit the pink bunny's pole and spun the bunny around first shot.

Enjoyed myself. Will do more.

Monthly Bash was quite well attended. Master Cormac had come up with this tourney arrangement of fighters fighting in rotating pairs, three bouts between each pair. Fun, though not so much for the List Mistress trying to keep track of things.

Afterwards [info]doushkasmum, Stuart/Alysdair & Sarah went back to [info]mr_bassman
& [info]mrsbrown's for hot drinks, dolmades, cheese, ham & bread plus the 85% Cocoa Lindtâ„¢ chocolate I contributed. Then home.
